Washing your car might end up on the bottom of your to-do list more often than not, but it is an important part of maintaining your vehicle. Car washing does not serve the sole purpose of making your car look shiny and new, it works to preserve your finish, removes grime and build up that could worsen how your car performance, and ultimately creates safer driving conditions. Of course, having a clean car is an added bonus. Unfortunately, most people do not prioritize washing their car so it does not get done as often as it needs to. The following are 6 myths about getting your car or truck washed…

Myth #1: My Car Is Still Shining, I Don’t Need a Car Wash

False! Majority of cars have a natural sheen simply because they are made out of metal. It takes an excessive amount of grime and build up to cover your car’s natural gleam. It is only when grime has eliminated the car’s shine that most people feel like they need a car wash but this is wrong thinking. Try running your fingers across the surfaces of your car or truck. You might be surprised to find just how much dirt is on the surface. It won’t feel like a smooth, clean surface but instead coarse and rough. Cars get dirty– so if you have not been to a car wash in a couple weeks, it might be time to head that way.

Myth #2: The Rain Washes My Car

False! Rain can be a good thing but serving as a car wash is not one of its useful purposes. Why? Rainwater is not very clean and although it can remove mud and dirt, it tends to leave your vehicle covered in water spots. Most car washes use distilled water to clean cars as it does not cause water spots like rainwater. Experts actually advise washing your car after a heavy rain– wild, huh?

Myth #3: I Don’t Need Wax. That’s Just Overkill.

False! People are quick to assume that wax is just another way for car wash owners to make another dollar but that is just not the case. Wax is an essential part of strengthening and preserving your car’s protective finish and paint. The exterior of your car consists of a few layers– the base paint layer, a “clear coat,” and the finish. The clear coat is a transparent layer that protects the base paint from all of the natural elements it will undoubtedly encounter. If you want to make sure that your paint is protected, we advise applying wax after every wash. This will help you rest assured that your car’s exterior stays looking great and protected for years to come. Don’t hesitate to take the steps needed to protect your car from all the harsh and damaging elements.

Myth #4: Automatic Car Washes Will Damage My Vehicle

False! While this may have been the case many moons ago, automatic car washes have come a long way. In the past, car washes used abrasive brushes that could have been problematic but we have learned that although these brushes are great for rinsing and scrubbing, they can damage the clear coat and your car’s paint job. With the knowledge, we can assure you that any component in our automatic car wash that will touch the surface of your car is harmless. We have implemented foam brushes that will not damage your car’s exterior.

Myth #5: Automatic Car Washes Cost To Much

We cannot deny that hand washing your vehicle might be more cost effective as doing at home is “free” and self-serve hand wash locations usually come with a lesser price tag. But do you really know what your doing and could you harm your car? What is your time worth? We can save you the time and hassle of cleaning your own car and ensure that your vehicle isn’t harmed doing so. Automatic Car Washes are a great value and monthly passes are even a greater value.

Myth #6: Automatic Car Washes Waste Water and Are Bad For The Environment

The average automatic car wash only uses approximately 40 gallons of water? Still sound like a lot? That is about the same amount of water that a person taking an 8 minute shower would use. I know, it sure seems like a lot more when you’re in the tunnel. Want a comparison to a hand wash? The average hand wash job using a standard water hose will use 120 gallons per wash– you read that right, three times the amount! People hand washing their car tend to take their time and do not realize just how much water they are using. Automatic car washes were designed to eliminate water waste and to be as efficient as possible.
