Keeping your car’s interior clean is just as important as keeping your car’s exterior well-maintained. You inhabit the inside of your vehicle whenever you drive, and it’s good for both your health and peace of mind to keep your vehicle’s interior clean. The car’s upholstery is likely to take more wear and tear than you know: pets, kids, spilled drinks, and soiled shoes quickly can turn your vehicle’s interior into a mess. Cleaning your upholstery can be simple just follow these upholstery cleaning tricks to maintain the appearance of your car’s interior.
Immediately Deal with Spilled Beverages
Of course, if you are traveling on the freeway or in heavy traffic it is not always easy to do. But the faster you clean spills up like cola, juice, or coffee the less likely they are to stain your carpet or upholstery. Dilute the spill with cold water. Never use warm water it will set the stain. Then blot the excess liquid up using a paper towel or clean rag.
Some challenging stains can be broken up using glass cleaner. Before using any product test the agent in an inconspicuous space to ensure the product will not stain the carpet or fabric. Leave it for a few minutes to see what happens. If all is well spray the area with the glass cleaner allow it to sit for 5 minutes and blot to clean.
If ink is the culprit on the interior carpet or fabric try using hairspray. Allow it to sit for a couple of minutes until the stain is absorbed and wipe it off. You may have to repeat it several times.
Create a paste: Use a paste using powdered laundry detergent and cold water if you have the unfortunate circumstances of getting blood on your car’s interior. Apply the paste to the stain until it dries. Then vacuum or brush to remove it.
Do not use any mineral or oil-based cleaners on vinyl they will make vinyl stiff. Use baking soda and a damp rag. Rinse the mixture off using dish soap and water.
Deep Clean the Carpet
Mix a gallon of water a cup of vinegar and a little dish soap. With a hard bristle brush work the liquid into the fibers, get deep within the fibers. Allow it to sit for around thirty minutes before you rinse with water and blot it dry.
Mix warm water and Castile soap or liquid dishwashing soap together in a bucket. Use a ratio of 5 parts water to 1 part soap. Dampen a cloth with the solution and wipe down the seat surfaces. Don’t saturate the leather because too much water could pool in the seat seams and seep into the cushions. Make sure to dry the upholstery thoroughly afterward.
Removing Fabric Indentations
To remove pressure marks, from leather upholstery you can use a hairdryer or heat gun. Then try to remove the pressure mark by massaging the leather. Push and roll the leather from all sides to try to bulge and lift the pressure mark. For heavy items left inside the car that cause an indentation use an iron on low and iron over a damp towel. Do not use a scorching iron and do not let it one area too long.
