Regular washes and waxes serve to shield your vehicle’s paint from the damaging effects of the Sun’s UV rays. Try and limit your automobile to the exposure of the sun for long periods of time. If you can, try to park in a garage or a shady spot or consider a car cover. Even though today’s paints are superior to those from years ago, ultraviolet light will still fade the paint on your car or truck. UV rays are a major problem but so are bird droppings and tree sap.The following tips will help you protect your automobile’s paint job from them also…

Bird Droppings!

DO NOT let bird droppings sit on your car for extended periods of time if you can help it. Alone, bird droppings, are a problem for your car but when the sun bakes them into your vehicle’s exterior, you can even have a larger problem. Bird droppings have uric acid in them and they can corrode your paint. If you find fresh droppings on your car or truck, you can simply mop it up with some seltzer water and a microfiber towel. The carbonation of the seltzer water helps break down the chemicals. Just keep a little spray bottle of seltzer in your car. If your car has been bombarded with bird droppings, make sure to have it washed and waxed to remove the droppings before you get permanent damage to your vehicle’s paint job.

Tree Sap

Tree sap is among the toughest contaminants to remove from a vehicle’s finish and among the most damaging. After baking into the finish, the sap eventually etches into the clear coat and paint, causing webs of deterioration around every spot of sap. Try to avoid parking underneath sap producing trees whenever possible and keep a watchful eye to remove any sap that may accumulate on your vehicle. Once again, regular washes and waxes can go a long way toward preserving and protecting your vehicle.

Professional Car Washes Are A Greener Option Than Washing It Yourself

If you think it’s “greener” to wash your car at home, think again. Most people who wash their cars at home do it with a rag in one hand and a hose running in the other. Depending on the flow of water coming out of the hose, you could end up using close to a hundred gallons of water to wash one car. Most car washes use between 40 and 60 gallons of water per car. And the water supplied to outdoor spigots contains minerals and impurities that leave sunspots on your vehicle’s when the water dries.

Bailey’s has many options to keep your car or truck in its best shape all year ’round. For even more value, many of our customers use our monthly packages.
